Earlier this month, first grade visited the media center for a technology lesson. I had an opportunity introduce them to Microsoft Word and show them how to insert pictures and change the font size and color. It was exciting/refreshing to see how enthusiastic they were about learning to use Microsoft Word! I was thrilled to have the opportunity to view their finished products - opinion writing on which pets they would or would not want to have. Here are a few pictures of the writing completed by Ms. Laurens' class. Our school district has gifted each media center with a SimplicityTouch panel. I was able to use it with a class for the first time yesterday. We read Blueberries for Sal and completed a Venn Diagram on the SimplicityTouch panel to compare and contrast Sal and Little Bear. Pardon the blue lines; we thought that two students would be able to write at the same time. Unfortunately, that did not work out, but it did not stop the students from enjoying using our new technology!
We have had a fantastic time celebrating Dr. Seuss this week with daily Seuss trivia questions, Seuss story time, and our Crazy Hat Day today. We also gave away books to students to encourage them to read more at home. You can never have too many books :-) |
