August Updates

9/2/2013

The media center was very busy in August!  All of our classes came in for orientation and lessons on taking good care of their books.

Our kindergarten students had an opportunity to hear the story This is not my Hat  and to talk about the role of the author and the illustrator in creating a book.  We also began discussions on the parts of a book.

Students in 1st grade heard the stories Mousterpiece and Wemberly Worried.  We used our story time to talk about the beginning, middle, and end of the story, and we talked about how we can use the pictures in a story, along with the words to figure out how a character is feeling.

Students in 2nd grade heard the stories Zero the Hero and The Circus Ship.  As we read the stories, we talked about how each story was introduced and how the endings concluded the action.  We also talked about the turning point in each story- or rather what changed the story.

Students in 3rd grade came in for dictionary lessons.  Here are pictures of some of the work that was completed on the Smart Board.
