BookFlix is perfect for our students in Kindergarten - Third grade. It provides paired fiction and nonfiction books that help students work to build their reading skills. BookFlix also has some of the most popular books, including Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Bear Snores On, and Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type.

Once you have recorded your Flipgrid response, design a slogan that encourages others to improve their lives by speaking up. I would love to see pictures of your slogans. You can use technology, such as Adobe Spark, PowerPoint, or Word. You can also write and decorate your slogan with pencil and paper. Whatever you do, I want to see it! Email what you have done to me and don't forget to also share it with your teacher.
Today is Earth Day! This day has been set aside as a day for everyone to show support for the things that we should be doing throughout the year to take care of the Earth and keep it clean. I have created an Earth Day Activities group in Cobb Digital Library. Here you will find books that you can read about Earth Day and some activities to share what you have learned.

Today, we read Different? Same! by Heather Tekavec. This nonfiction book reviews groups of animals that are very different, but on a closer look, we learn that they actually have something in common. This book encouraged us to look at animals in a different way, and we were surprised to learn some of the similarities that they shared. After all, what could animals who live in very different habitats (jungle, Arctic, forest) have in common? The author has two pages dedicated to the different characteristics that can be found on animals and why those characteristics are important.

Today, we are reading The Little Red Fort by Brenda Maier. This story is a creative twist on the classic story of The Little Red Hen, and I love how the author has incorporated STEM! In The Little Red Fort, Ruby finds some boards and wants to build a fort. When she asks her brothers to help her build the fort, they laugh and tell her that she won't be able to do that. With hard work and determination, Ruby surprises her brothers, and there is a surprise at the end of the book. You can find this book in Sora (Located in Cobb Digital Library).
